The way it works is you can only bid a single penny at any time during the bidding process on a particular item. However, in order to be able to bid, you need to pay 60 cents for each 1 cent bid. You need to purchase the 1 cent bids beforehand in order to participate in the actual bidding procedure.
The Claim The site promises that it will sell items that are of high value at rather unbelievable prices. Other items of similar caliber are being sold all the time and the selling prices are always incredibly low too. The Hype The advertisements and campaigns rolled out by the Quibids company were met with anticipation and excitement.
Surely, the deal seems to be too good to be true. But with all the possible savings that you can get by simply making 1 cent bids, the concept is indeed very appealing.
The Cost You can purchase 1 cent bids for 60 cents each. Therefore, if you lose the auction, you will lose some money too. While the person who got the item may seem to have won it, the total cost may not be as low as advertised. The Commitment There is no formula to have a winning streak at the Quibids auction site.
You are bidding almost blindly as you never know when the actual bidding will stop. The Quibids people control everything and the bidding process can suddenly stop without any warning. So if your strategy is to always bid at the last minute, you may find that the bidding has already closed without warning. Evaluation Quibids is a terrible penny auction site. Aside from having to spend 60 cents for every 1 cent bid that you place on a particular item, you will also be charged with shipping and handling.
The only real winner in this situation is the Quibids site itself. It has no way of losing money as it can extend the deadline for the bidding procedure as long as they want. In actuality, if you're committed to winning the auction, but there's also at least two others committed, you've got yourself a pretty good bidding war. This is the only part of the video that seems to be legitimate. You pay all the above costs with your credit card and fill out your shipping information.
Easy enough. If you really wanted to purchase the product, but lost the auction, then you have one chance left—Buy It Now. If you lose, you can opt to buy the product anyway, for the full retail value minus the cost of bids you've already placed.
Let's use the video's Wii example again. It was. Another editing goof? Or a way to make the final purchase price lesser and more enticing? But don't forget about shipping costs! Something they don't tell you about in the video nor explicitly state on their site is that it only credits bids purchased fully with credit cards. In the QuiBids blog , they try to make users aware that they should use the Buy It Now, so as not to waste their money. It is a fun and risk-free way to do your holiday shopping.
This is an unrealistic expectation that certain customers have. We encourage everyone to set a realistic expectation of how much time and financial investment is necessary to win a big ticket item. If the above information didn't turn you off, then maybe you'll listen to others and save your money.
Many users end up winning nothing but debt, calling it a scam. Some believe it's a pyramid scheme. Others believe it's rigged. And the rest of us just don't care to even risk it. At first glance, it seems that QuiBids. Now, QuiBids has absolutely zero relations with Amazon, which makes this an attempt at legitimizing their illegitimate business model.
We're you fooled? So was I, but I dove in anyway. It seemed like a decent place to start my journey. Instantly dozens of other hopeful visitors were also trying to win the same auction. If there is anything redeeming about Quibids, it is that their system prevents individuals from spending more on bids than the value Quibids assigns to the auction item. I was not off to a great start in my Quibids adventure. This made me wonder about the declared value of auction items.
Some margins were better, but in all cases the Quibids prices I checked were grossly inflated. I was determined to win something, and win I did! I scored what looked like a big win, but how did that work out for me?
After lurking around for 6 hours, waiting for the chance to get a deal, I noticed that there was an item in the jewelry category that had no activity and would close soon. It seemed too good to be true, and it was. I bought the item, paid the fees, and initially received a note that the item had shipped. Then a day or two later, I received a notice that Quibids could not fulfill the order and they would gladly refund my purchase.
Was I surprised? Unlike Ebay and other online auctions, Quibids auctions have only one seller. I had not authorized this and the person who got back to me, so quickly, took care of that for me. I received a notice in a short time that it was removed. I will be back with QuiBids, as soon as my son get's home to help me understand what I am doing! Thanks Folks and Merry Christmas! So today I went Quibids to see if they had fixed the matter that was keeping me from purchasing and claiming my items only to find they had deleted my account.
To say I am angry at this theft would be an understatement. Tip for consumers: So after making a nuisance of myself demanding my money back Quibids has refunded the money to my account. Thank you Quibids for correcting the problem and making it right. I signed up to Quibids yesterday. I spent roughly an hour pre bidding going over all the tutorials so there were no surprises there. Long story short after loosing on an item I attempted to purchase it. A red purchasing error sign came up. I called my bank to make sure the problem wasn't on my end.
Nope all was go. Then I attempted to reach Quibids customer service. They have a live chat button that goes nowhere. Finally I do reach Alex who seems nice, he says they will get the issue fixed for me and I can proceed with my purchase. In the meantime thinking the issue was getting fixed I went back and bid on another item. Each time they debit my bids but when it comes time to claim my item, No Can Do. I attempt to email them but don't hear back.
By this point I don't want to play anymore. I just want my money back. I have requested it but have yet to hear back via email. Huge disappointment! The FAQ and Quibids are so focused on defining what makes this auction site different that more normal things like shipping information is not easily found.
Also the launch page restricts what the potential new user can see so i couldnt observe an actual auction before registering. Their customer service response is fast and very understanding. Like seeing what's up for grabs on the site have only bid on something 2 times and didn't win Will diffidently be going back soon to win one. This is a terrible scam. You have the same people day after day winning and bullying the other bidders.
They will never respond to email complaints. I wasn't happy, and asked for a refund. Fortunately the customer service person refunded it immediately upon request. Not sure if I will be participating in quibids in the future. On one hand, I have gotten some wonderful buys on items and the Buy It Now feature means you don't ever have to lose any money. On the other hand, there are too many bidding bullies and too many crazies who need to win at any cost on the site.
Additionally, they really need to continually add new products. I have been shopping on your website for a number of years. I have had the great fortune of obtaining a large variety of quality and interesting merchandise at such great prices. I really enjoy shopping the fun way with your company. I also really appreciate that you offer free shipping and a variety of merchandise to select from when winning one of your auctions.
I wish there were a few more scooters offered in your auctions as well as more auctions in the evening and other off times such as early morning. I have told many of my friends and family and how much I love QuiBids! When they see the amazing items I get from your company and the amazing prices they ask me to show them how they can do well with QuiBids as well.
Best investment I ever made! People simply do not read. I would ask them why they think they give their credit card number just to sign up. I've read the information and it's pretty clear. I've been using QuiBIds for going on 3 years and I love it. When you sign up there will be at the top that is labeled "QuiBids ". If you do sign up, be sure to read QuiBids before you begin bidding.
It's very helpful. We want to echo Appy's comment above. We apologize that you didn't know what you were entering your credit card for. But we are still happy to provide a full refund for your unused bids. Just contact us at support quibids.
